It's unusual to come across a band with two really strong singers, let alone six. Add impeccable instrumental proficiency and songwriting ability to the mix and you've got a recipe for major success - so I don't know why Arcanadh haven't managed to attain a higher profile since the release of their debut album, 2004's Soundings. Husband and wife Colm Breathnach (banjo and mandola) and Sinead Gibson (guitar and whistle), brother and sister Mags (piano, fiddle) and Martin Gallen (guitar, bodhran), Maria Corbet (harp) and Fiona Walsh (fiddle, whistle) share lead vocal duties more or less evenly, with the varying styles and timbres keeping things interesting for the listener. The wealth of talent in the band really shines through on Tomlan's Stream, an original song by Gallen that sees the various members taking turns on solo, duet and trio verses, building up to a lush choral wash of harmony.
